Eligibility to Join DAR
Any woman is eligible for membership who is no less than eighteen years of age and can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death.
Joining the DAR does not require an interest in genealogy, but it helps to have knowledge of your ancestry. To determine your eligibility, you will need to gather documents for yourself, your parents, grandparents, and possibly great-grandparents.
We will be happy to help you search for your Patriot ancestor and help you with the forms and documentation you need. Contact us, and a member of our membership committee will contact you to help you get started on the path to membership.
Please visit the National Society for more information about membership.
